Recently Jeff and I celebrated our 1 year anniversary, which I’m very happy about because it’s been a great year!
On our actual anniversary we popped over to Wahaca for dinner. It was a sentimental decision because this is where we had our first date! I had the pork pibil main, which was perfectly cooked and the right amount of spicy.
We also exchanged gifts at Wahaca, and Jeff got me this lovely Pterodactyl necklace by Designosaur. (It matches my favourite tee shirt!)
The next night we really celebrated, going all out with dinner at Galvin at Windows (they have a michelin star!) and cocktails at celeb fave Mahiki.
We started the evening off with a Kir Royal (crème de cassis and champagne) and a stunning view of London from the 28th floor of the London Hilton on Park Lane in Mayfair.
We opted for the 3-course menu prestige, and it was incredible. I had:
- the scallops ceviche to start
- Loin of Herdwick mutton, onion textures, pearl barley, Swiss chard & mini shepherd’s pie main (The shepherd’s pie was adorable! It came in it’s own tiny copper saucepan and the mash on top looked like a miniature mountain range.)
- Buttermilk panna cotta, marinated pineapple, tapioca, coconut & lychee granita
Easily the most delicious food I’ve ever eaten! I didn’t take any pictures of the food, though, because I thought that’d be rude. And I wanted to enjoy Jeff’s company without fiddling with my phone too much.
But we did ask our waiter to take a picture of us before we left. How could we not?!
After dinner we popped over to Mahiki for some cocktails and celeb sighting. We didn’t see anyone famous while we were there, but we did have some awesome cocktails.
Pictured above is the Lover’s Cup, which we thought was necessary considering it was our anniversary and all. It’s made with Giroc vodka shaken with pear, cucumber and elderflower, topped with rose sparkling wine and a rose. Let’s fall in love!
And of course I had to try the Coconut Grenade cocktail, it was served in a frozen coconut! It’s got Mahiki Grog, Mahiki coconut, and passionfruit and lime. It’s an explosive – and delicious – combination.
Once we were a few deep – and ready for some cheaper drinks – we decided to move a bit closer to home and bar hopped over to Callooh Calley where we finished the night with some simple G&Ts and Dark & Stormies.
Eventually we wandered out into the street, sloppily inhaled some chips from a kebab shop and stumbled onto a night bus home.
A very good anniversary indeed.
