I’ve been back from my USA vacation for just two weeks, and the My Little French Riviera Box has arrived and got me pining for my next getaway. (Spoiler: my next getaway is a city break. Why didn’t I plan a seaside holiday?!) This box is swimming with turquoise and crisp white, and if I can close my eyes I can almost smell salt water…
This month the theme is, so very clearly, ocean. As someone who grew up near the ocean (you can read about some of those memories in this blog post) this box speaks strongly to me; adjusting to being more than 20 minutes away from the coast has been consistently challenging for me over the past five years. And June’s box taps into the most positive aspects of living near the ocean: salt water, sunshine, and ever-present blue. Holiday mode, you have been reactivated!
This month My Little Box collaborated with Sarah Lavoine, interior designer and architect who also has a gorgeous Instagram account. And, as to be expected, the box is filled with her signature blues and complementary hues. June’s Loved By product is by Lavoine: a nail polish featuring her iconic blue (‘The Greatest Blue’), and she also collaborated to design the beautiful, retro-style sunglasses. Sadly, I have prescription glasses – and I’ve never worn contact lenses! – so I’m not sure I’ll get lots of use out of these, but I certainly could make an exception for afternoons reading or lounging outdoors…
Along the ocean theme, this month’s illustration is super cute (“This is my happy place” – too true!) and the box included two additional summer beauty must-haves: an exfoliating body scrub (Sea Salt Fresh Scrub by My Little Beauty) and a hair treatment (Ciment Thermique by Kérastase). Soft limbs and shiny holiday hair, here I come!
Last but not least, tucked inside this box were a couple of planters decorated by Kanako. Designed to hold plastic garden pots, these cute planters have a sneaky double purpose: they can hold beauty or craft supplies! Just pop in an unused container (hands up if you’d got plastic food containers missing the lids at the back of the kitchen cupboard – I know I do! – and I think they’d be perfect for this) and voila! A lovely way to store all the little bits and bobs.
Now all I need is to pack the suncream and I’m ready for the sand and sea breeze. I can practically taste the salty air now…
(Please don’t burst my bubble and remind me that my next weekend break is actually to a city!)
My Little Box runs on a subscription service and costs £11 per month plus £3.95 P&P. For more info, check out the My Little Box subscription area.
