What I wore: skinny jeans and a bomber jacket for a trip to Chinatown to celebrate the year of the dog

This weekend was the Chinese New Year, so I headed to Chinatown to celebrate the year of the dog with milk tea and red bean buns. (OK, so maybe not the most traditional for the Spring Festival, but they’re some of my favourite foods from when I visited China.)

One of my favourite things about living in London is the diversity of the culture and access to so many different foods, entertainment, celebrations and more. And one of my favourite celebrations is the Chinese New Year.

I love making my way to Chinatown, seeing the dragon dances, and eating as many red bean buns as will fit in my belly! (Yes, I know that dumplings are traditional to eat to celebrate the Spring Festival, but I never seem to get a seat in a restaurant so I make-do with delicious red bean buns. Which are one of my favourite treats. )

The festival is always super crowded, so I never want to dress up too much – otherwise I’d risk being uncomfortable trying to make my way through the crowds and I’d  be devastated if I ruined a favourite bag or top in the moment. So this year I put on some comfy jeans, supportive trainers, a T-shirt layered over a turtleneck body for warmth, and a bomber jacket with a pop of colour so I’d still feel like myself.

Do you celebrate the Chinese New Year?

Much love, Katie xo
