New Year’s Eve is only a few days away now, and if you’re anything like me you’re still trying to figure out what to wear and hunting for inspiration in the sales! (Probably not the best time to search for ideas, but I’m determined to make it work.)
So, after a few trips to the shops I’ve bought a few pieces to try at home with other items I already own. Here are a few looks I’ve nailed down as personal possibilities without spending my entire paycheck on an outfit I’ll probably wear just the once…
Idea 1: Sparkly bodycon dress with Dr Martens
As far as I’m concerned you can never go wrong on NYE with a sparkly bodycon dress – just pick one with a colour/pattern you like and that fits well and you’re good to go! Of course, you can always wear bodycon dresses with heels and it’s job done, but for an edgier look I’ve gone with a pair of Dr Martens. (Which just so happen to be a great dance floor companion!)

Shoes: 1460 For Life by Dr Martens
Idea 2: Beaded crop top with leather mini skirt or high waisted skinny jeans and studded cowgirl boots
Another great option for a NYE night out is anything beaded/embellished, and a beaded crop top can be dressed up (with a skirt) or down (with jeans) which makes it an instant winner for both NYE dancing and any cocktail/bar night coming up in 2015. (Oh hey getting more than one use!) It also looks great with heels, flats and boots (depending on the bottoms selected) so it should earn it’s place in the wardrobe in the long term.
Top: TFNC London
Jeans: All Saints
Skirt: Urbancode London, last season; similar via All Saints
Shoes: Billy Biker Short by Frye
Idea 3: Strappy gold and black dress with heels
This one is definitely on the glam side, but an instant NYE win in my book! I love the idea of wearing something totally eye-catching to ‘wow’, and while it certainly wouldn’t be out of place on the dance floor, it would also look great for a romantic NYE dinner date or at a cocktail party.
Dress: ASOS, last season; similar via Boohoo
Shoes: Persia by Miss L Fire, last season; similar in silver via Retro Revival
Idea 4: Statement flat, skinny jeans, and a tee shirt
Fun, comfy, and perfect for staying on your feet till the wee hours! I love this idea for a more chilled out NYE celebration, and it can totally be dressed up (such as with the embellished top above) or down (such as with a band tee shirt) while still being a standout outfit!
Shoes: ASOS, last season; similar by Ralph Lauren
Jeans: Black skinny jeans with zips by Mango
What are your NYE plans this year – and what will you be wearing?
