Last month the guys over at Wolf & Badger hosted an Instagram competition for a Vielma London scarf, which I was lucky enough to win! Scarves are one of my favourite accessories, so I thought I’d do a little post about how I like to style this one.
This lightweight pure silk scarf from Vielma is 45x45cm, and features a graphic pattern in red and grey. The colours and pattern are right up my street, though the scarf is significantly smaller than the rest of the scarves I’ve bought for myself. But not to worry – this is an item I wanted to work into my wardrobe, so it was less a challenge and more a pleasure!
Headband: For me, wearing a scarf as a headband is a tried and tested look that I tend to fall back on – especially towards the end of the week when my hair may not be its cleanest…! But this scarf’s geometric pattern and monochrome print lend itself to looking fab when folded, and the small size means it fits snuggly when wrapped around my noggin.
Neck scarf: I’ve done this in the past with larger scarves – tying like ties, folded in half as a triangle, a bow to the side, and even slipping both ends of the scarf through a ring (my dad’s old class ring is a favourite for the latter!) – but using a small scarf as a neck scarf is new to me. At first I felt a bit self conscious with it on, as though I wasn’t myself, but when I pulled on my leather jacket I realised that, actually, it took that day’s look to the next level in a positive way. Which is great.
Handbag: OK, so this isn’t exactly styled on me… but it does look great tied to a handbag, doesn’t it?! I don’t want to leave it there forever because I’m nervous it will get damaged on the tube during rush hour, but for a little while, as long as I’m being careful, it should be fine!
Do you like to wear scarves? How would you style this scarf, and what are your favourite ways to style a scarf? xo
