Oversized is a look I’ve been loving lately, so for autumn I’ve decided to upgrade my wardrobe with a lush maxi cardigan, deep blue denim boyfriend shirt and chunky loafers. Cosy and warm – while still smart enough for the office! – here I come…
Top: ASOS | Jeans: All Saints | Cardigan: ASOS | Shoes: Dr Martens | Watch: Casio | Necklace: local market
With this outfit I wanted something that wouldn’t look out of place in the office, but that I’d still feel happy wearing when I meet friends for weekday lunch breaks. And I think it does just that! It’s smart enough for client meetings at the digital marketing agency I work for, comfortable for sitting at my desk and working without me getting distracted**, and friends and colleagues have complimented the cardigan style. Result! Bonus: it keeps me warm while popping out for lunch.
**The last time I wore a jacket and shirt to work I felt so out of place and uncomfortable I spent more time adjusting my clothes than working! That was at a previous job, though. Nowadays the work to outfit comfort ratio is certainly skewed in favour of the work. Which is what I’m supposed to be doing at the office, frankly.
I opted to wear my cherry red Dr Martens loafers for these photographs, but a pair of chelsea boots or cool trainers (like Vans or Nike) would also look great. If I swapped the jeans for ripped jeans (like the ones I wore in this weekend style post) it would be a bit more casual for the weekend, and of course it’d still look great if paired with trendy trainers instead of smart loafers. However, I wouldn’t trade the cardigan for a leather jacket, because I think the outfit would be a bit too plain – though with a statement scarf or handbag the leather jacket would look great!
Blogger friend Kira snapped these pictures for me a few weeks ago near St Paul’s Cathedral.
Would you wear this type of outfit to the office? What’s your office style? x

I’m glad you liked this, Christy! I love maxi cardigans for this time of year because they’re perfect for that chilly-but-not-quite-coat-season weather. x
