Review: Melvita Nectar de Roses Collection

Call Me Katie - Melvita new Wild Roses Eau De Toilette, Rose Petal Shower Gel, Hydrating Body Veil review - 02

Organic beauty brand Melvita launched Nectar de Roses, a sensorial range featuring wild rose extract, last month. The range features an eau de toilette, shower gel, body veil and multi-purpose balm.

Roses are well known for their mositurising and soothing properties in beauty products, and the Nectar de Roses range offers a unique blend of wild rose extracts and oils with 100% organic ingredients that soothe, regenerate and moisturise the skin while providing 24-hour hydration.

I tried out the Rose Petal Shower Gel*, body veil* and eau de toilette* for this review.

Consistent with the Roses de Nectar range, the Rose Petal Shower Gel* includes hand-picked wild roses.

I’ve got sensitive skin, and when I realised this formulation contains no soap I was thrilled! During my teens I had to use special ‘non-soap cleansers’ on my body to avoid red, dry, itchy and irritated skin. And while my skin has become a bit less sensitive as I’ve gotten older and I can now use the majority of body washes from the majority of retailers, it’s often only a matter of time before I search for something more gentle.

The bottom line for me is: this shower gel smells amazing and leaves my skin feeling clean and hydrated. I would happily purchase this product when I run out!

Body lotion has been a part of my daily routine for about a year now (I don’t know why I didn’t do this more regularly sooner – my skin looks so much better and doesn’t get as itchy anymore!) and while I’ve got a cupboard full of lotions (there are 10? maybe 20? in there…) I’m always happy to try a new one.

The Hydrating Body Veil* contains three hand-picked wile roses, is enriched with rose floral water, and is meant to hydrate skin for 24 hours.

It has a light, fragrant sent and a creamy, milky texture that’s easy to spread across limbs without getting ‘stuck’ on the surface. My body feels so smooth after application, and I also really enjoy the floral scent. I’m a fan of this body moisturiser and have been happily slathering it on daily since I arrived.

Scents are something I’m still discovering (maybe you remember this post last summer about the first – and still only! – scent I bought for myself?), and I’m still not sure what my personal scent preferences are when it comes to sprays. So I was very excited to have a bottle of Wild Roses Eau de Toilette* to test drive!

This eau de toilette contains three wild roses ‘picked at dawn in Drôme, in Vercors and in Chile’, which are picked in line with Melvita’s ecological commitment and sustainable picking charter (you can read more about that on their website) to maintain their ecological commitments. Melvita has ‘captured the freshness of their petals, the powdery scent of their hearts and the woody base notes of their leaves, in a fragrance that takes you on a journey to flower-filled meadows.’

When I first spray it, the scent is really sweet and overpowering, which reminds me a bit of candy stores as a child. But as it settles the floral notes come through leaving a very soft, very delicate scent that would feel very at home during a sunny day.

Are you a fan of roses in beauty products? And are you excited to try this range?

Much love, Katie xo
