Beauty brand Melvita recently launched a new product: Nectar Bright Brightening Duo*, which is a blend of floral water and oil designed to gently exfoliate skin and bring back ‘a radiant, uniform and hydrated complexion’. I was lucky enough to be gifted a sample, so here’s how I got on with it…
The Brightening Duo* contains benefits from AHA complex derived from milk to smooth skin and refine texture, and the complex of white flowers is meant to help the skin feel more hydrated and look more luminous after use. With use overtime the idea is that skin’s complexion will look more radiant.
I’ve been trying it out for a couple months now (it launched in April but I received my sample before launch; now I’m already about halfway through the bottle – eek!) and so far I’ve been enjoying it! I’ve noticed that my complexion is looking more even in regards to the hyperpigmentation caused by acne, and my skin feels more hydrated / soft. Result!
To use it, you either shake (or don’t – more on that below) the bottle and spray onto the palm of the hands to massage into the facial skin.
When I’ve used it in the mornings under moisturiser (in place of a serum) after shaking the bottle to combine the water and oil I find that my skin skin begins to produce a bit more oil than it might otherwise, especially if I do this for a few days in a row. However, if I mix it up and use it this way every other day (with a different serum on the days in between) then my skin’s oil production remains balanced. (Disclosure: my skin is naturally oily so this is something I put effort in to control!)
I’ve also skipped the bottle shaking for a lighter application of just the water phase in the morning and my skin’s oil production has been balanced. Though this is an advertised way to use the Brightening Duo*, in a way I feel like I’m letting the product down when I don’t shake the bottle! (But I think that’s just a ‘me’ thing…)
I’ve also used this at night, and while it does the job I tend to prefer more heavy-duty treatments while sleeping (such as oils without the added water). But on the nights where I’ve applied a facial oil before dinner (because I was so organised that I took my makeup off right after I got home) I like to shake this bottle and spritz onto my face as a refresher before bedtime.
It’s a sturdy bottle for travelling, and at only 50ml is great for the carry-on. I’m not sure if this will remain a staple in my routine in the long run, but it’s a good product, lasts a while and I’m enjoying using it, so will see this bottle through!
Here’s one of my morning routines with the Brightening Duo*!
Have you tried this product? What do you think of it?
Much love, Katie xo
