Recently my client Magnum hosted a party in Cannes during the film festival to celebrate Magnum Double and their Release The Beast film, so I was on a plane with them to create content for social media!
It started off with a 6am flight that was overbooked, so I ended up getting bumped to the standby list! Luckily, I made the flight at the last minute and away I went. Next stop: Nice.
After landing in Nice it was time to head to Cannes, about an hour south of the airport by car, to meet up with my colleagues and the rest of the agency teams.
When I got to Cannes I headed straight to the hotel to drop off my bags before making my way to the venue for the all-team kick off meeting.
How colourful is this hotel?
I stayed in the Hotel Brimer, close to the city centre.
Once I’d dropped off my bags it was off to the venue on La Croisette.
The view from Magnum Beach.
Right on the beach front were jewelled Magnum sculptures.
Here’s what I wore for day one!
And as part of my role as a Social Media Manager, I was there to create content for social media. Like of the freshly dipped Magnums against the seafront.
But it wasn’t just me doing that – almost everyone who came to the venue took a similar picture of their Magnum, too!
We also photographed a Magnum in hand by the sea, here’s my cheeky personal snap between takes with the photographer.
And if you were ever curious how to take a #fromwhereistand style picture with someone else photographing and making sure their shadow doesn’t appear – it involves getting a bit close! (Silly face made for selfie purposes, obviously!)
Then we photographed our invitation for a layflat before sitting down for a team lunch break.
I ordered the artichoke salad, which was absolutely delicious! For the rest of the day we focused on editing photos, prepping for the party, sound checks and meetings.
Day two I met one of my teammates for breakfast, and while searching for a cafe we spotted this lovely little market.
Then, after a breakfast of omelette and coffee (the omelettes in France are just so yummy!) we were ready to work.
Off to the venue, strolling through the lovely streets in Cannes.
It was party day, so we set the backstage area up as a makeshift office. Here’s what it looked like before everyone arrived and set up laptops / unpacked their kit.
This was my working spot pre-laptop setup, and I snapped this before realising the notebook wasn’t actually a gift for me but belonged to someone else and was already written in. Oops!
After the team meeting it was time to live stream a behind the scenes look at the venue and making a Magnum over on the official Facebook page.
Then, it was time for a press conference with Kendall Jenner to talk about her collaboration with the brand. I was in the press pen with the social photographer as a second set of eyes for opportunities of what to photograph.
And also to help him switch lenses on his camera for different types of photos!
And then I looked over and noticed Kris Jenner was RIGHT THERE.
After the press conference Kendall headed over to the dipping bar, where she created her own Magnum.
After the press conference and photo shoot is was content time, downloading all the pictures, picking our favorites, writing captions and getting them ready to post.
By now it was nearly party time! So of course I asked for a few shots of my outfit.
Then the guests started to arrive…
And the DJs started playing…
And I live streamed a segment of Cassius’ set to share on Facebook! Here’s a snap that one of my clients took of me up on stage doing my thing. (Thank you G!)
Next morning I met a colleague for some much-needed coffee and more omelette before getting back to work.
And before I knew it it was almost time to head back to the airport.
So I went for a walk in search of lunch, and to head back to the hotel to collect my suitcase.
I had a quick lunch outdoors to make the most of the fresh air and scenery.
And waited at the bus station for the bus to the airport to make the plane that would take me onwards to London.
Till next time!
