Turtlenecks are one of those clothing items I’ve always struggled with because as much as I liked them on other people, unless they were a chunky knit I didn’t really know what to do with them. Until now. Here are two ways that I’ve styled the same turtleneck…

While I was in Tokyo last autumn (I know – I really should dig out my notes and start writing more regularly about my travels!) I couldn’t help myself from “just stopping by to take a look” at the Uniqlo pop up. Two hours later (and with the song they play on repeat in the Uniqlo Japan permanently stuck in my head) I left with the turtleneck, white button down and wide leg jeans you see pictured above. At the time I hadn’t pieced together that this could be one outfit, but I was delighted to have several basics that fit so well. (Spoiler: if you’re petite like me then Japan is a great place to go clothing shopping!)
It wasn’t until a couple of weeks ago that I tried piecing these items together in this way because I wanted to wear these blouses without hiding them, it’s quite cold in London, and I don’t particularly like wearing cardigans. (Actually, I don’t own any cardigans. All my jumpers are pull over or coat-style.) Since then I’ve been washing and wearing this one turtleneck practically non-stop.
Do you ever layer tops over turtlenecks?
Much love, Katie xo
