This dress belonged to my grandmother back in the late 1960s. Could have been early 1970s, but because of the pink my mom is guessing late 1960s.) And a couple years ago my mom gave it to me because it fit (almost) perfectly. (Grandma had a slightly different build than I do, but the fit is close enough that I can wear it.)

I’ve been wanting to wear it for a while, but I always felt a bit self conscious that it was too “loud”. I felt like people would stare, would judge. I was nervous I’d feel out of place wearing it.
But you know what? I love it. And I recognise that I’m incredibly privileged to have a possession from one of my ancestors; not everyone gets to enjoy this.

So in honour of my grandma’s awesome style and to celebrate #SecondHandSeptember, I wore it to brunch at Copa Club last September.
Remember: the most sustainable item you can wear is the one that’s already in your wardrobe.
