Lately I’ve been showing you lots of holiday and weekend looks, and while they’re all very nice they aren’t what I wear for the day-to-day. So, here it is: my first ‘What I Wore’ post featuring a look I wore to the office. And for posterity, it was photographed in the morning before I made the commute to work. (So to my colleagues, you’ll recognise this one from last week!)
Friday was one of those days where I got dressed with an outfit that I’d had in mind – but hadn’t actually tried on yet – and thought hey, this looks much better than I’d anticipated! And because I was (magically) running early for work, Jeff agreed to pop outside and take a few quick pictures so I could blog about it.
This outfit features a shirt from Gestuz (which is in the sales at ASOS – go, go, go!), a trusty old Urbancode leather skirt (I think it’s preparing for it’s 3rd winter in my wardrobe, and I picked it up in the sales way back when) and a pair of white summer loafers by YMC (which I got for a bargain in an end-of-summer in-store sale). It wasn’t meant to rain so I was happy to wear the white shoes, and because the air is starting to have that telltale autumn bite I pulled on the tights. The shirt is designed to be oversized, but with my petite frame I cheated the fit for this outfit by rolling up the sleeves, keeping the top few buttons undone and tucking it in. (Though it would also look great this way over skinny jeans, or with the sleeves unrolled and a more fitted / cropped jumper or cardigan.) It’s hard to see in the pictures, but I am wearing a delicate gold chain around my neck to help balance the empty space.
I found I felt very confident and smart in this outfit, which was great because I had quite a few internal meetings on Friday. After work I met Jeff for dinner before heading out to a friend’s birthday drinks at a local pub. While out for the evening I felt stylish and comfortable, and was free of that hmm, maybe I should have brought a change of shoes or something to change into in the office before going out… doubt that I sometimes get when I’m out for the evening after work. I’ve only worn it the once, but I know this outfit has just made its way into my ‘trusty favourites’!
What’s your office wear style? Is this something you’d go for, or would you pick something totally different? I’d love to know! x
