August Birchbox: Away we go

birchbox august 2014 1With August came my second Birchbox delivery, and I’m absolutely over the moon with what I’ve received! From body wash to hair serum, perfume (and I’m not normally a perfume person!) to eyeshadow – this month’s five surprises have got me smiling… birchbox august 2014 2
The theme for August was Away We Go!, and sticking with the theme everything is travel sized and arrived in an adorable see-through makeup pouch. Perfect for weekends away, mini breaks, and my travelling yoga kit.

Here’s what Birchbox has to say about the August theme: Pack up that carry-on bag – it’s time for an adventure! This month, we’re celebrating everything that makes summer getaways magical, whether you’re counting down to a fun-packed fortnight away from home or day-tripping your weekends away.

birchbox august 2014 dead sea spaDead Sea Spa Magik Refreshing Bath Shower Gel: I tried this one in the shower, but the real joy was when I used it in the bath. It turned the bath water a beautiful blue, and provided a refreshing aroma. Hello, relaxation! (£7.15 for 350ml from Birchbox)

birchbox august 2014 resist meLiaison De Parfum in Resist Me: I’ve never been one for perfumes or scents, but I think I’ve just found my signature. Birchbox says: Resist Me is for the sophisticated and elegant, with notes of bergamot, lemon, leather and lavender. But to me, this eau de parfum smells of incense and reminds me of yoga class. I’ve been spritzing on my pulse points every day as a fragrant reminder to help keep my Zen. (£105 for 100ml from Birchbox)

I’ve been trying it every other night as the second part of my cleanse (first cleanse with oil to melt away makeup), and I think my skin does actually look a bit brighter for it. (£25 for 1.7oz from Birchbox)

birchbox august 2014 tommy gunsTommy Guns Weather Protect Dew Drops Serum: I’ve tried this as both a styling aid in damp hair (gently worked through and left to dry naturally) and in dry hair (gently worked through to tame frizz and flyaways). While my hair dries with a beautifully glossy look, it also feels a bit heavy and loses some volume. For me, this hair serum is a real winner when I use it on dry hair. (£6.50 for 50ml from Birchbox)

birchbox august 2014 wild about beautyWild About Beauty Powder Eyeshadow in 04 Becca: Despite already owning more shades of eyeshadow than I’ll ever admit, I’ve been reaching for this lovely daily. It provides a subtle oomph that creates a lovely daytime look, and I feel a bit more glam and done up with it on. I also love the bee imprint! (£13 for 2.5g from Birchbox)

All in all I’m a very happy Katie with the August Birchbox!
