When the sun shines in that super bright way during the morning commute that just feels so distinctly autumnal.
While summer will always be my favourite season, there is something pretty special about autumn – the foliage, crispy fallen leaves crunching beneath my feet, boot weather, knitwear, bobble hats, scarves and pumpkin flavoured everything! Here are a few of my favourite autumnal looks…
Bobble hat, jumper, leather jacket, knitted scarf – hooray! When the weather turns cold and I’ve got to go out, there’s nothing I enjoy more than bundling up warm in all the layers. On this particular day I was more than a wee bit hungover and wasn’t paying attention on the tube and ended up way out of my way in North Ealing. Oops! But at least I had the coziness of my handmade snood (thank you mommy!) and my ASOS bobble hat (last season, similar here) to tuck away in for the journey back into Central London…
And for the windier days, I’m all about the blanket scarf! My favourite is this reverse plaid/houndstooth print scarf from Zara last year. (And turns out Primark has a similar one this season!) I haven’t bought a new scarf yet this season, but that’s mostly because I can’t decide which of the scarves at Zara I want – so many lovely options!
When it comes to work days, my autumn/winter uniform is pretty much a button down shirt, knitwear and skinny jeans finished off with a piece statement jewellery. Above are a few of my favourite looks recently, incorporating the pterodactyl necklace (£31.49 by Designosaur) that Jeff gave me for our first anniversary (and that I wore on our wedding day!), a Johnny Loves Rosie necklace from last year, and the DVF for My Little Box kiss broach that I received in October’s box. When it comes to statement jewellery, I’m all about anything fun, quirky and interesting – especially if it can be a conversation starter for those otherwise dull elevator trips up to the 5th floor!
And though it’s not fashion, autumn for me means soup. All of the soups! And lucky me, Jeff makes delicious soups at home with the leftover veggies in our fridge that I can pack up and take to work in my lunchbox. Perfect for a few minutes away from my desk to recharge while filling my imagination with whatever book I’m reading that day. (Currently it’s Alan Hollinghurst’s The Line of Beauty.) What a lovely way to warm up indoors!
How do you dress in autumn? What are your favourite things about this season?
