It’s not often that a brand gifts me something to trial that I’m so over the moon about that I feel like I need to shout about it, but when that happens I feel like I need to put a huge THESE ARE MY HONEST OPINIONS disclaimer in all capital letters right at the start of the post. That said, the team at iiaa, Jane Iredale‘s parent company, sent me a whole heap of mineral makeup to try and I love it so much – read on for my honest opinions plus how these products look on me…
Smooth Affair Facial Primer & Brightener* | Glow Time Full Coverage Mineral BB Cream in 6* | Disappear Concealer in Light* | Amazing Base Loose Mineral Powder SPF20 in Warm Silk* | Pure Pressed Blush in Whisper* | Chisel Powder Brush* | Eyeko Skinny Liquid Eyeliner | Eyeko Eye Do Mascara
One of the things I find so attractive about the Jane Iredale brand is that Jane herself developed the makeup to fill a gap in the market. According to her website, “She was inspired to develop a makeup that was good for the skin by her career in the entertainment industry where she saw actresses and models struggling with the ill-effects of the many kinds of makeup they wore….Her goal is to make products that look good, feel good and are good for the skin.”
The products are non-comedogenic so they don’t tend to clog pores, and they feature mineral particles which are meant to form a protective barrier on the skin that allows it to breathe and function normally. Of the items I tried, both Glow Time and Amazing Base contain SPF, which is great year-round.
The above has become my go-to look ever since I started trialling these products, and I have to say I’m really pleased with the results! They’re long-lasting – I never feel as though I need to re-apply in the evening after work – and they haven’t caused any breakouts or irritated my existing acne.
The primer* and BB cream* act more like a foundation, offering a build-able coverage I can get on board with, and they apply well with both my Beauty Blender and fingertips. The concealer* works well on my olive skin, lightening my naturally dark under eye circles without looking “off”, which is a common problem for me with concealers. I also like using this concealer* over my hyperpigmentation to provide the appearance of a more even skin tone. Next up is the Amazing Base powder*, which I find applies better with their chisel powder brush* than my beloved MAC kabuki brush (I never, ever thought I’d say that!) and really helps the makeup set and stay in place. Then it’s time for a quick sweep of blusher* before topping off with mascara (and eyeliner on a good day!).
I like that these products provide a natural look without feeling heavy or cakey while staying in place, so I’m especially looking forward to putting them to the test this summer.
And for my vegan friends, good news! The BB Cream, Amazing Base, Disappear Concealer, and several of the Pure Pressed blushers (though not my shade in Whisper) are vegan!
Please note: while the products marked with a star (*) in this blog post were gifts, the views expressed are my own.
I’ve always been curious about Jane Iredale but I’ve been so hesitant to buy their stuff due to their exorbitant prices! Great reviews, will check them out once again!

Ohh, I haven’t tried their lipsticks yet! Is there a shade you recommend? And yes – the blush looks beautifully natural, and it also has some pretty great staying power, so I’m really a fan. 🙂 x
