Photo diary: Christmas lights around Oxford Street

Darlings, I will not lie: Christmas is in 4 sleeps and I only just finished present shopping today!

So with a handful of names left on my list (including my husband – eek!) I went to London’s shopping mecca, Oxford Street, to get the job done. However, with the entire street (and many of the side streets) decorated with Christmas lights I couldn’t help but take a few pictures as I walked from Selfridges to Carnaby Street…

This afternoon (it was only about 4.30pm when I was out – but my oh my does it get dark early in London in the winter) I walked from Selfridges to Carnaby Street – with quite a few detours! – and was totally spoilt for Christmassy decorations.

For anyone who’s been to London at Christmas time this is nothing new. Each year, the Oxford Street area completely decks the halls for the holidays and never fails to impress. Sometimes there are brand partnerships (last year Oxford Street was decorated in a Marmite ‘love it or hate it’ theme – how cool!), and sometimes there aren’t. Regardless, on the whole this year’s lights are my favourite in recent years – especially the baubles at St. Christopher’s Place, arches at South Molton Street, peacock inspired lights at New Bond Street and the white orbs on Oxford Street, which always make me feel warm and fuzzy in a very festive way.

While wandering through and enjoying the sparkle, I did indeed manage to navigate my way through the crowds and tick every last name off my list. Phew! Now to commence all the wrapping… I’m going to need a massive mug of hot cocoa with marshmallows and Christmas carols for this!

The lights will be up until 4-6 January, depending on the street, so if you want to have a gander for yourself there’s still time.

Merry Christmas, my dears! xo
