I’ve had this gold skirt for two years now, and I still find it difficult to style. It feels a bit too over the top for work, a bit too dressy for most days out and about and when I do go out dancing, I so often find myself skipping off to the shops for something new. (Why do I always do this?!) But last weekend I had lunch reservations at an upscale Mayfair restaurant, and I thought it’s be a great opportunity to give it a twirl…
Skirt: Beloved, old | Top: ASOS | Belt: vintage | Shoes: Clark’s Zena Mae, currently available on Amazon | Cuff bracelet: My Little Box, limited edition | Postcode Bangles: Whistle & Bango | Typewriter bracelet: Churchoncalla at Chelsea Market, NYC | Bag: Etui at Topshop Oxford Circus, old
And I’m really pleased I did! It looks almost effortless with the basic white v neck blouse (which is a total essential in my wardrobe – perfect for layering and works well as an office top during the summer!) and chunky Clarks sandals. I paired it with the belt to help it look a bit more polished, and while I piled on the bangles (it’s kind of my thing – I never go out without my bracelets!) I shied away from a necklace so the skirt could really take centre stage.
Jeff took these photos after lunch, but despite feeling so full the skirt did a great job of hiding it! We took these pictures on a backstreet in Mayfair, away from the crowds and tourists and – somehow! – managed to have the place to ourselves for nearly 30 minutes, which I’ve never experienced in Central London before.
My outfit was light and breezy and while I was expecting a warm day on Saturday, I was not anticipating it to hit 30°C! Luckily, neither the shirt nor the shirt clung to me and I was able to feel cool while still looking sophisticated. (What’s the point of looking great if you don’t feel great, I must ask?)
I loved this outfit for a day out for lunch, and think it will also work as a great summertime office look, which I wasn’t expecting! And while I could wear this to my next client meeting, I think it will serve me even on better on a Friday when those post-work cocktails beckon.
So cute! Love this outfit
