Review: Eloquence skin care

Call Me Katie - Beauty review of natural skin care brand Eloquence, whose products include Sacha Inchi Oil - 01

I love trying out skincare products that are new to me, and especially if they’re new to market! (Who doesn’t love feeling like they’re in the know?) So when I had the opportunity to try out the Eloquence Beauty Care range, you know exactly what I said, and what to expect in this post. 😉

Eloquence Beauty Care is one of the UK’s newest natural beauty brands, which incorporates Sacha Inchi Oil (extracted from the seeds and flesh of the fruit of the pracaxi tree) which has a very high Omega 3 content.

I’ve heard of taking Omega 3 supplements as good for the body, but, until now, I’d not heard of applying it to the surface of the skin! The press release says the product’s Omega 3 could help restore skin’s elasticity, Omega 6 combats dehydration and that Omega 9 could help against premature ageing through nourishing and protecting skin from environmental stress. They’re also free from perfumes and colours and are cruelty free. That all sounds great to me, so I was happy to take these products for a test drive!

For the purpose of this review I was gifted the full range: Purifying Facial Cleanser, Firm & Tone Serum, Firming & Moisturising Eye Gel, Protect & Repair 24 Hour Cream and the Nourishing Treatment Oil.

When I trialled these products I didn’t use them as their set routine, but rather mixed and matched them with other products already in my cupboard so that I could figure out where in my routine I was happiest using each.

The Purifying Cleanser* has a pearlescent cream texture, and it doesn’t lather easily – which is something I look for in skincare because SLS tends to irritate my skin! It contains cucumber and coconut extract, which is meant to help leave skin feeling comfortably refreshed.

I found I preferred using the Purifying Cleanser* in the morning, though it was perfectly fine to use at night after a balm cleanser. This is mostly because it’s a very gentle product, and while it cleanses nicely I like to start my day with something super gentle and nourishing.

The Protect & Repair 24 Hour Cream* has Hyaluronic acid to make it an intensive moisturiser. Hyaluronic acid is found in the body and is involved in tissue repair (such as post-sunburn) and maintaining moisture in the top layers of the skin. But as we age our bodies produce less of it.

The 24 Hour Cream* can be used both during the day or at night, and I played around with both. I found it worked nicely as the finishing touch before applying makeup, and that when I wore it overnight (on top of an oil, of course! I just love my treatment oils too much to go without.) my skin felt a bit more supple.

The Nourishing Treatment Oil* is designed to help renew, repair and revitalise skin, hair and nails. My nails have been flaking a lot lately due to how frequently I’ve been wearing nail polish (nails need a break too, you know!), and my hair is naturally dry and a bit frizzy thanks to its curly texture, so I was very excited to give this oil a go!

On my hair, I found it was a bit too heavy to leave in throughout the day because it left an oily shine and weighed down any volume, but it was perfectly fine to use as an overnight treatment when a hair wash was planned for the morning. (Alternatively I’d be happy to leave this in my hair all day at the weekend, and then wash out at night!) Since using it my hair feels softer and looks a bit glossier.

I also tried it out on my face as a night oil, and while it’s probably a bit too heavy for my skin on a daily basis it was fine to use once a week or so with radiant results.

I wish I could comment about how it did on my nails, but I’m really rubbish at remembering to apply hand/foot cream at night (and you think I would be considering how obsessive I am about skin care…) so I really couldn’t tell you if it works well on nails!

The Firm & Tone Serum* contains glycerin and coconut oil to help illuminate the skin, as well as Hyaluronic acid to help keep skin looking plump and supple.

I appreciate that my genetics means that I am aging fairly slowly for my age, and that wrinkles aren’t currently something I have to address. But I have been noticing the fine lines creeping in, most often when I’m dehydrated. I’ve been using this serum* and noticed that it’s helping my skin stay a bit more supple when I’m not as hydrated as I should be, which is great from an aesthetic point of view! However, I’ll still be aiming to drink plenty of water each day because HEALTH.

The Firming & Moisturising Eye Gel* targets dark circles and puffiness, with added Hyaluronic acid to help smooth out fine lines.

The eye gel* is probably the only product I didn’t really love, and that’s simply because I prefer a cream texture for my eye products. That said, this gel did what it said it was going to do. It took about a week of regular use at night to start to notice a difference, but now when I use this in the evenings I find I’m waking up to less tired-looking eyes. And not because I’m sleeping better, but rather because the gel is working to keep that area smooth even though I’ve become dehydrated while sleeping! Regardless, I still drink a pint of water first thing.

I’m happy to say that I didn’t experience any reactions or breakouts or redness with these products, which is great because you know how sensitive my skin can be! All in all I found they slotted into my routine quite nicely, and I’m happy to have them in my cupboard.

Have you tried the Eloquence skin care range, or other products with Omega fatty acids? Let me know in the comments!

Much love, Katie xo
