Spring in London is always a solid combination of it’s too warm for a jacket in the sunshine and it’s freezing in the shade. So for a recent Sunday lunch date with a friend I layered up with a cami, ripped jeans, trainers and a denim jacket, polished off with a topknot to hide the two-day-old hair.
Layers are so key in London springtime, and I’m a fan of ripped denim for the weekends. (As much as I love these jeans, I haven’t been able to bring myself to wear them to the office!)
We weren’t going far, but I wanted a place to pop my sunglasses in case the sun came out, so I grabbed the rucksack that I bought in Marrakech a few years ago.
The top is by Lost Ink, which I recently picked up on ASOS as a double duty weekday / weekend top for summer.
In the past I’ve always stuck with wider / thicker tank top straps because I’m self conscious about my shoulders. But I don’t like being self-conscious, so I’ve sucked it up, put on my best brave face and went for thinner straps! And you know what? I actually like how it looks!
While it was warm enough for sandals there was rain in the weather forecast. Practicality (and the fear of ruining a pair of sandals if it downpoured!) kicked in and I popped on my trusty Superga gold sneakers.
Which was a good choice because we ended up walking home the 45 minutes from lunch in Hampstead!
Whenever my arms are bare I end up stacking up on bangles, and for this look I went with the cuff I designed from My Little Provence Box on my right arm…
… and my Triwa wristwatch and bespoke Whistle & Bango bangle on my left arm. (And if you want to design your own bangle you can save a few pennies with my code KATIE10!)
For this picture I thought I was looking cute, but actually it just looks like I’m sniffing my arm pit. Oops! But at least it shows off my mom jeans, which are my current favourite style of jeans because they are soooo comfy.
Mom jeans for the win!
What do you wear in the spring time? Are you a fan of cami tank tops or mom jeans, too?
Much love, Katie xo
