What I Wore: ripped white jeans

When it comes to style I always find myself coming back to monochrome items and classic basics. This has always done me find till a few weeks ago when I realised I’d been wearing black skinny jeans and chambray / denim shirts to the office every day for a week!* I certainly don’t live in a cartoon sitcom, so I decided to branch out and get myself some white jeans. *In my defense I own multiple black skinny jeans and chambray / denim shirts, so while the style was the similar, the clothes were all clean.

I chose to go for this pair by ASOS as an affordable (98% cotton for £30 and free returns if I decide I don’t like them? All of the yes!) way to try out a new (to me) trend.

And I’m happy with how my other ASOS branded jeans have maintained their shape since the summer, so that definitely helped swing the decision.

Side note: I usually wear petite clothing, but because these jeans (the ones pictured and the ones linked) are both ankle-grazers I find I can cheat the fit with the 32″ inseam and a double roll at the hem. Result!

Before the jeans arrived I’d started doing my research via Pinterest (aka: I made a pin board all about white jeans!) so I already had a few looks in mind to try out. Specifically, I wanted to try out chambray shirts (of course I did…), stripey tops and white / grey tops.

After trying on most of the shirts and jumpers I own, I decided my favourite look was with this knitted jumper I picked up at Gap when I was in NYC last year. (But this one is pretty similar.)

To keep with the monochrome theme I put on my trusty heeled ankle boots by Dune (you’ve seen these before – they’re a few years old now!) and called it a day.

As much as I love black and white I wanted to add a splash of colour with the accessories to help liven up the look, so I wrapped up in a blanket scarf by Liquorish and grabbed my vintage brown and black faux leather handbag.

On my wrist I wore my new Triwa watch and the bespoke Whistle & Bango bangle Jeff got me for my birthday. (In case you missed it, I’m now a brand ambassador for Whistle & Bango, so you can enjoy £10 off on site with code KATIE10.)

The necklace was a birthday gift from my friend Emma, and I love the length for this look. Please don’t quote me on this, but I want to say it’s by Aldo.

What do you think of the white jeans trend? Will you be giving it a go or giving it a miss?

  1. You’re correct the necklace was from Aldo and I picked it for its great length (and nice stone ). Although this was back in September so I doubt it’s available now. Xx
